Abstract: The project will house a glass-covered, heated pedestrian boulevard and one of the world's largest crystal blue water lagoons.

Dubai-based property developer Azizi Developments on Wednesday unveiled a Dh30 billion mixed-use community project in a desert oasis, Azizi Venice in South Dubai, which will house 30,000 residential units.

The private developer announced that the Venice-inspired waterfront community will feature 100 mid-rise flat blocks and more than 400 luxury villas and mansions.

The project will be located entirely within the world's largest crystal blue water lagoon.

The 15 million square foot community will also feature a heated pedestrian boulevard and Dubai's second opera house. The boulevard will be open-air in the winter and covered in glass in the summer to ensure a temperature-controlled space for year-round activities.

Underground car parks will also be constructed to facilitate access to Aziz Boulevard and the Aziz Opera House for the tens of thousands of tourists who visit daily.

Mirwais Azizi, founder and chairman of Azizi Developments, said the neighbourhood will be home to some 80,000 residents, as well as a destination for some 30,000 daily visitors.

He added: "I love Dubai and we are honoured to contribute to the realisation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in enriching the lives of the millions of people around the world who now call Dubai home."

Real estate developers in Dubai are aggressively launching projects to meet unprecedented demand from residents and foreign investors. On Wednesday, Nakheel Properties launched the second phase of villas at The Palm Jebel Ali and Emaar Properties launched Nima, The Valley.

The Burj Khalifa developer also recently launched the $20 billion Emaar Oasis project.

In addition, private developers such as Danube Properties and Damac have also launched several residential projects this year to meet market demand.

The Azizi Venice community will have multiple beaches surrounding all the flat blocks, villas and luxury homes, as well as plenty of leisure, retail and commercial space.

The turquoise waters, desalinated and filtered, will be surrounded by beach-like shores, 8 kilometres of cycling and jogging paths, yoga and sports facilities, and a promenade featuring a variety of artisanal restaurants and boutiques.

The entrance to the community will also feature two five-star hotels owned and operated by Azizis, as well as a boutique hotel on an island in the centre of the lagoon.
